There’s no magic trick that can vanish years of accumulated fat in the body. You can’t get to abracadabra one’s jelly belly, so it vanishes in an instant and never to be seen again.

If that were possible, we’d all be Victoria’s Secret models or fitness influencers on YouTube or Instagram.

I’ve always had a voracious appetite. When I was growing up, my mama, who was the sole provider, had a hard time feeding us kids, whom she sometimes referred to as threshers or threshing machines.

Threshers, by the way, are obsolete machines for harvesting rice. They separate rice grains from their straws when you continuously step on the pedal while being fed with rice stalks.

My mama said we’re no different from those harvest machines - we were always chomping.

According to her, we only stopped munching when we were asleep. We were always chewing, so sometimes she compared us to goats or the pigs at her pigsty because of our insatiable hunger.

She meant no harm, though. That’s just her way of saying things. She would’ve had a heart attack…
